International DVD Competition Update
VideoMovieHouse.com today announced that they are launching a DVD-by-mail service that will serve both the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Videomoviehouse.com is no stranger to the movie industry. It has been selling movies online worldwide through its website since June, 2001. Its existing data base of over 200,000 customers represents a solid launching pad from which it will commence its rental operations. By offering a truly one stop shopping experience, the online customer will have the option to either buy or rent a DVD at anytime. With both options together on one site, the company expects to see increased traffic and sales in both divisions.
Video Island, the UK's largest DVD rental service today announced a partnership with Mobix Interactive and IFILM to distribute trailers, ringtones, movie clips and short films to PC's and mobile phones.
In less than 20 months, Video Island has provided UK subscribers with over 6m DVD rentals. Handling nearly 1.5m rental transactions a month, makes Video Island the equivalent of 150 high street video stores and means the platform already sends out over 35 times more unique movie titles per week than transmitted by broadcaster Sky Digital. Today's announcement, extends this digital distribution beyond the letterbox to both mobile phones and the PC, marking a further step for Video Island towards offering the UK's most innovative platform for multi-channel digital content distribution.
Video Island has a partnership with Microsoft's MSN service to provide DVD rentals in the UK:

I wonder if Microsoft is planning a similar offering in the U.S.

Hey,
I just signed up for the trial at Video Movie House.
While I count overall selection and general throughput
higher than website quality, I must report that the
site has befuddled me...
...searched usually fail, and when they do the result
is a listing of all movies they have (as opposed to
none) and the category of the search changes from
"All" to some subcategory, like "Actor"). This make
finding movies practically impossible.
I will look further, as I might have missed soemthing.
Has anyone else used this service?

well lets see ....its a pink sheet company with no money and no practically no sales
its auditors doubt they can stay in business
announcing a huge new initiative they have no hope of doing well and little hope of doing at all
basically a pump and dumb penny stock scam
see gamesnflix gzfx for how this sort of garbage works
oh the stock had a nice run today so the pump worked ...now comes the dump

Is Videomoviehouse.com in Canada? There are a few Canada-only DVDs that Nicheflix doesn't have yet that I'd be willing to rent.

This place is terrible. They're "new releases" are a couple weeks old and there whole search engine and how you organize movies in your queue is terrible. No way to tell if your movie is in or not because they don't provide a legend as to what things mean. Also, when you try to CANCEL your membership (as I tried to do after 5 minutes), the cancel button does absolutely nothing!
Oh yeah, about Blockbuster online: Has anyone received dvds with a store number on them? I got A.I. in the mail with a little sticker on it that had a store number on it.

Videomoviehouse.com is a very good site. Easy to use and their affiliate program is an excellent way for an orginization to make money. I get my movies fast and their selection is better than Blockbuster stores. A plus.
