Review: Rentcaddy
Nathan at Rentcaddy sent me one of his online movie rental organizers to review, and I liked it so much I bought it.
At first I didn't think I needed one, but since I have up to 6 rentals from Netflix and Blockbuster at a time, it helps keep the pile of envelopes, DVD's and sleeves together (they were typically in a pile on my desk).
The quality was much better than I expected, and it looks like a nice notebook. If you look closely you'll see that these are custom-made and have special sections for the DVD, sleeve, and envelope.
Here's the left side where I keep my Netflix rentals:

Here's the back where I keep my Blockbuster Online rentals:

The Rentcaddy costs $9.95 plus S&H.

Here's an alternate opinion regarding the Rentcaddy:

I'm such an old-time Netflix customer that I have a small plastic organizer that Netflix sent me years ago. Slots in the front for the discs, a large slot in the back for the envelopes. I'm still using it.

Not sure I understand the point of it. The discs seem to do just fine sitting on top of my entertainment center.

"Not sure I understand the point of it. The discs seem to do just fine sitting on top of my entertainment center."
Agreed. It's not like I have that many to keep up with. No more than 8 if you're on the max plan AND you have them all at home at once. One stack for discs and one stack for envelopes - or leave the disc in the envelope and take it out when needed.

I'm on the 3-out plan at Netflix and Blockbuster, and I have anywhwere from zero to six movies at home.
We watch movies in different rooms in the house, and we also bring them in the minivan when we're traveling, so it works for us.
I'm also happy to see people building products specifically for the dvd-by-mail market.
It's up to you if you want one, but I liked it.

My discs hapilly sit in a pile with the envelopes on top of the entertainment unit. I'd rather spend my time WATCHING the movies instead of organizing them.

Like Kathryn, am old school enough to have one of the Netflix plastic organizers that I got from the company about 4 years ago. Its old enough that it has 4 slots for discs because the 4-out was the standard package back then.
Its really perfect. I've had it for so long that I can't imagine my Netflix experience without it. Keeps all my discs safe and separate from the rest of all my media. Will easily hold up to 8 discs and envelopes if you're on the mega plan. Too bad newer members can't get one.

Kathryn- I got the Netflix organizer many years ago, too. Works great.

I'd love to post a photo of the Netflix organizer. Can someone take a picture and send it in?

Neat case, fills a niche. It's a forward thinking company that takes a chance on a product like this. Doubt it will sell in big numbers but it could. Don't think it applies much to people like me on the 3 plan or less. I'd like to see the NF holder too.

Gayest thing ever... I what Gizmodo.com wrote about it......
""" This has to be one of the stupidest products of all time. It’s a holder for your rental DVDs. That’s right. It’s just for the DVDs you get in the mail from Netflix, so that you can easily mail ‘em off after you’re done. Apparently just keeping them nicely stored in their own envelopes isn’t good enough for some people. And if that’s not stupid enough, this thing looks like a hacked version of an Office Max CD holder. To top it off, the whole thing costs a crazy $10 plus shipping. People, if you really have that much trouble keeping your mail-in DVDs together, do what I do: Just leave ‘em next to the DVD player. Believe me, it works. No need to be spending the $10 for a cheap-o “caddy” that you can use to rent more DVDs."""
Seriously.. I can't believe you people actually have one of these.

This reminds me of this:

Except I think the cheap one is more practical. LOL

Personally, I think I might get one. It's not like it's $20 or more + S&H.
I've thought of trying find some sort of holder that would hold my envelopes & CD's. I think they look pretty cheesy-craptastic laying on my entertainment unit shelf. I have no drawers in the unit to hide them.
I've also taken my Netflix DVDs to family & friend's homes, and had nothing to keep them from getting crushed but a folder. I cracked one of the DVDs and had to pay Netflix (I'm honest that way). I've crushed a CD at home, too. $10 + S&H is less than $40 paid to Netflix.
Not feeling a need for something is one thing, but to all-out trash it as a "stupid idea" just because one is happy without it, is a bit harsh. ;)

Folks at Gizmondo post constantly about expensive items that most people can't afford or don't need. Apparently they are wow'd by expensive items themselves, or they wouldn't be obsessed with posting about them.
Yet they sniff about a $10.00 item that some will find useful? Especially people who are disorganized. Great persective.

"Personally, I think I might get one"
(sigh) I guess it's your money to waste, I mean spend. (The term "anal-retentive" comes to mind.)
