NYTimes: Amazon Considering Downloads
Is everyone going to start a movie download service? The NY Times is reporting that Amazon is Considering Downloads:
Amazon.com is in talks with three Hollywood studios about starting a service that would allow consumers to download movies and TV shows for a fee and burn them onto DVD's, according to three people briefed on the discussions.
Amazon has a unique advantage over most movie download services -- they own IMDB (the Internet Movie DataBase). The story reports that IMDB had more than 15.1 million visitors last month (the IMDB homepage claims 35 million), and enjoys high rankings in Google for movie listings.
