Tony noticed that Netflix now offers HD DVD versions of a few movies, and they have a release date of April 18th.

You can easily switch between the HD DVD and DVD version in your queue by clicking on the HD DVD button to select the DVD format (HD DVD or DVD at this time).
Here's what it looks like when you add a movie to your queue (I have selected HD DVD as the default format, when available):

You can enable your Netflix account for HD DVD by going to Your Account and selecting HD DVD format under Account Preferences.

If HD-DVD holds 4 times as much data as a regular disc, I don't think it will fit in my mailbox.

Please boycott HD-DVD and BluRay. They contain DRM that will down-sample the video quality (by 1/2) if you don't have HDCP-infected equipment. There's no technical reason for the limitation. Just the usual greed, paranoia, and treating their customers like thieves. Several studios are using the flag to tell your player to down-sample the video quality on old or non-HDCP-compliant TVs. Others say they will not use it, but that could change at any time. The best strategy is to boycott all HD technology, until the companies do what's best for consumers.
