Movielink for Sale
Businessweek reports that Movielink is for sale.
LOUNDERING. Things aren't yet desperate for Movielink, but the picture isn't terribly bright either. The service has blasted through much of the $150 million that its founding studios invested back in 2001 to launch the service. It has enough money for one more year, say sources with knowledge of the site. And Movielink still hasn't gotten much traction with users at home. It currently gets only a little more than 75,000 downloads a month and, according to a recent report by the industry newspaper Video Business News, its market share has declined in the last year as competitors like iTunes and Google Video have gained ground.

that's too bad, i like movielink way more than cinemanow as they have a 99 cents or less special monday through thursday..i've seen a bunch of great movies for like 50-99 cents that way, and i don't even use itunes at all. =( i'm not sure how google video would be competing with movielink for full movies, if anyone posted something like that it would get deleted fairly quickly. and so far itunes doesn't even have very many full movies. the whole concept of itunes annoys me, i don't like being forced into certain parameters where and how i can use my media.
