Grindhouse Now Two Rentals from Netflix
Craig and Holly wrote in to tell me that the Rodriguez/Tarantino flick Grindhouse was discontinued by Netflix. If you had Grindhouse in your queue, you received the following notice when you clicked on "Update:"
Update on Your Queue
Grind House has been removed from your Queue. We no longer have enough copies of the DVD to satisfy customer demand. Unfortunately, we are unable to purchase more of this movie and will no longer offer it for rental. We realize this is disappointing and want to reassure you that we remove movies from our web site only in unusual circumstances.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you find many other movies to enjoy at Netflix.
However, it looks like Grindhouse has been separated into two rentals, Death Proof and Planet Terror. Both movies show a release date of September 18th.
Blockbuster still shows Grindhouse as available, but also lists Death Proof and Planet Terror.

The two movies are going to be released a month apart, at this point there won't be one DVD released with both (although I'm sure the special edition will come)

I had Grindhouse in my saved queue for over a month, and just a week or two ago Death Proof was automatically added to the bottom of my queue with a Sep. 18th release date. I still had Grindhouse saved, and Planet Terror had been added to my saved as well. Grindhouse is still in my saved list, although under Availability it says "Click for update"... let's click it and see what it says.
It gives the same message quoted above.

The "Grindhouse" thing is NOT a NF thing!!!!
The powers that be at Weinstein/Dimension announced last month that they were going to seperate the titles AND release them a month apart. Both discs are alleged to have lots of extras. This is NOT a NF thing. Check on the announcement Weinstein made on IMDB.com or Videoeta.com or sites like that. A lot of businesses have not updated that fact yet. NF found out & tried to inform customers of the crappy decision Weinstein made. I'd much rather have them as a double feature all together, as intended.

I thought I recall something about the film distributors releasing the films separately in theaters outside the USA.
For those who need a hint on which one to put higher up in their queue -- opt for Deathproof. Fantastic! But yes, Planet Terror is super-awesome too.

harvey and bob are doing all they can to make up for the millions they lost on this project. It stinks that they split them up because each film alone is pretty lame - they're barely up to SciFi original numbers. The preview trailers were more entertaining.

"I thought I recall something about the film distributors releasing the films separately in theaters outside the USA."
Yes, correct. Since the bulk of their releases will be 2 discs releases, it makes since they will not produce (make) any more of the single disc releases. Same logic as trimming Titanic so much. They felt people would not sit for a 4 hour+ movie!
I'm glad so many people can think for me!!!!
