When did Blockbuster become cool? First, they launched widgets before Netflix, and today they were part of the Facebook ad platform launch.
The privately held company has signed on several dozen partners for the system, including phone company Verizon Communications Inc, movie rental chain Blockbuster Inc, and online auction market eBay Inc."What we're building here is a massive network of real world connections through which people can share information," Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg told a gathering of advertising and media executives in New York.
You can add the Blockbuster Facebook application to your profile, and you can share movies, ratings, reviews, and even add movies to your queue from within Facebook.

Netflix is looking into creating a Facebook application, and there are several independent Netflix applications for Facebook.
Thanks to Jim for sending this in.
Update: Blockbuster issued a press release to announce Movie Clique, the Facebook application.
I sure wish Netflix would do something like this!

It's just a matter of time before NFLX follows BBO on this.

"It's just a matter of time before NFLX follows BBO on this."
Shrewd observation. Especially since, as Mike indicated, Netflix has been talking about the idea already.

Nice, but unappreciated move on Blockbuster's part. Personally, I would rather see Blockbuster fix the problems they currently have with their system (so that it works more efficiently and with all current browsers) and bring back more than 3 max at-a-time programs. They also need a serious overhaul of the customer (currently, I do not) care department and flamed out service.
Right now, they are fighting a battle to keep costs low, offer more to the savvy user, and appear to be competitive.
That is not the way to gain points in the chase. Bad pit stops just do nothing but damage their chance of winning.
