King 5 has an interesting video shot inside of the Seattle Netflix shipping center.

Tidbits from the story: 40 employees process as many as 110,000 movies per day. The fastest person in the Northwest processes as many as 950 movies per hour.

I hope she is at least getting paid the overtime rate because Netflix only expects them to do at least 300 movies an hour.

It's nice that they give them a free Netflix subscription-most companies don't give their lower level workers much of anything when it comes to perks.

Just FYI, there isn't a Netflix shipping center in Seattle. It's in Tacoma, which is about 30-40 miles south of Seattle.

They didn't show the center actually scanning every disc they have in their inventory throughout their day. They scan all those discs that were sitting in those carts because those discs are packed into those boxes without any real cataloging system to find specific discs.

As a long time NetFlix customer, I want to say "Thank You!" to all the employee's who handle and process the DVD's. I believe it is you that make this company great and not the customer interface website. I also want to thank the people of the USPS who's back it is that carries our DVD's to our homes. It is people, not technology, that makes this all possible.

You really need bigger dreams. Working for them is not a pleasure.
