Netflix is Stuff White People Like
The totally incorrect site Stuff White People Like featured Netflix (#39):
White people are absolutely crazy for Netflix for a number of reasons. Firstly, because all of them are convinced that there is a global conspiracy to keep good, independent, groundbreaking film from mainstream distribution (multiplexes, blockbuster, etc).To them, Netflix (in spite of being a for profit company) is a brand new way for independent filmmakers to find an audience. By subscribing, white people believe that they are changing the film industry, supporting innovation, and contributing to a cultural revolution in film.
If you see a group of white people and you need to break into the conversation, a good thing to say “hey, is anyone else thinking that Netflix shipping is getting slower? I’m doing this PT Anderson thing, and I’m only up to Magnolia! What’s that all about?” They will relate, and talk about their own Netflix queues and how they are trying to get caught up on French New Wave.
Thanks to Jeff for sending this in.

This is racist.
What if it said "Netflix is stuff BLACK people like" or
"Netflix is stuff MEXICAN people like"?
Can we move on?

This doesnt bother me but if it did mention anyone else but the whites you can bet a little controversy would be started with Rev. Al leading the troops. Goofy article with plenty of sarcasam and added nothing.

I think this site is funny.
You are correct in that if the site mentioned a minority (in America) there may be a controversy. Probably not as websites don't get as much controversy, but let's say a white radio host was doing a list of "What black people like," you could bet that would stir outrage.
But how do we get over something like that? Do we call racism every time someone does it to us, the white people? I don't think that's the solution. I think we start by learning to laugh at things poking fun at us. Then, maybe, we can start to poke fun at other races too and if they get upset say "Listen, we don't care about blah blah this website making fun of us," it isn't a big deal.
I think this whole calling racism at every opportunity is getting ridiculous, but also furthers racism. If we just said "That's funny," then that's as far as this site goes. If we say it's racist, now all of the sudden it's a racist website and racism continues.

I think the site is hilarious and often on point. I'm white, but I can laugh at myself. and I do like things like Michel Gondry movies, sushi and Netflix.

haha I got a good chuckle out of that
it all comes down to white people being able to take a joke better.
If it said black people like netflix because it has a good assortment of kung-fu movies it wouldn't be racist it would be funny. laugh it off.
It just makes your race look bad when you can't laugh at yourself.

I'm able to laugh at that because I know people like that- however to say it's all white people is a bit extreme. Only a small fraction of the people I know are like that.
Anyhow, I'm able to laugh because I know my behavior and habits have nothing to do with the color of my skin. Why would I take offense? He didn't mention my name anywhere up there.

#74 should be:
...websites called "Stuff White People Like"

I hate it when people link something (music, movies, food, etc.) to a certain race.
I've had the friends of my friends in my car and they've made comments along the lines of: "why are you listening to white people music"?
Which I normally reply: "I didn't know only white people were allowed to listen to it".
The moment I hear someone spew such ignorant garbage out of their mouth I immediately write them off as a waste of skin and organs.
Though deep inside I'm sad that they've decided to limit themselves to what they will experience culturally.

I live in Memphis. I know for a fact that black people like Netflix, too :D.

This is so me. I'm very embarrassed but I'm totally that white person. From the extensive PT Anderson knowledge and queue ramblings all the way to my seemingly never ending journey into the french new wave. This is me with a bullet.

Shit, I only have Netflix because Blockbuster sucks. No, I don't think I'm supporting anything groundbreaking. Just seeing quality films that you can't get anywhere else. Watched weird unknown types of films for as long as I can remember. Before Netflix I used to use the .99 cent Tuesdays at my local videostore and Blockbuster's 30-movies 30-days deal where you could pay $20 or whatever amount and rent a film ever day if you returned the previous day's. Netflix is the best I've found and very grateful they're with us. Oh, I'm like 8% Native American as well.

I'm white and I like Netflix...because black people always talk through movies when I go to the theater.
Oopsie.

Come on now. It's funny. I'm going to have to read through the rest of that site.
I'm a cracker, and I think jokes (stereotypes) of white people are hilarious. Just like other stereotypes, they're usually based on some reality. If you refuse to laugh at the stupid stuff you do, you're missing a whole lot of opportunities to laugh.

@ Juan's comment:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
I gotta admit watching a a cheesey horror movie just isn't as good without black people commenting on it. Jeepers Creepers at the mall white people used to go to on $4 movie night was comedy gold. They had me shooting my free popcorn out of my nose. They were also the only reason I didn't wal out of transformers.

Yes, it is racist. If it was about blacks the author would be depicted in the media as worse than Hitler and would be receiving death threats.
However, the difference is that "whites" are, for the most part in this country, adults who can take a joke, unlike some other groups who whine like nuclear powered sissy bitches if someone so much as looks at them funny.
So, you know, keep up the BS, white-haters because, really, most of us don't give a damn.
