Watch Instantly Has Wrong Version of Bladerunner?
Jirah noticed that the Watch Instantly version of Blade Runner: The Director's Cut is not the "Director's Cut:"
The version of Blade Runner available on "Watch Now" isn't actually the Director's Cut. It's the original cut with the narration and the happy ending and no unicorns. I've just called Netflix to report the error, but who knows how long that will take to fix. I'd sure hate for the movie to be spoiled for anyone just because they watched the inferior first cut edition.
I've watched part of this version, and it has Harrison Ford's narration and the "happy ending." Can anyone confirm that this is the wrong version?

Yep. This is the theatrical version. That link is NF's old link. If you ordered the disc you'd get the wrong one. I don't think they ever fixed it.

If it has narration, it is not the "Director's Cut" or the new "Final Cut" which recently came out on DVD.
I hope they fix the error, since fans of Blade Runner would definitely not care to see the narration version...

There are several typos throughout the Netflix website. Another drawback is the Evening With Kevin Smith series. Both films are 2 disc editions when you rent it but if you try to watch them using Netflix's "Watch Instantly" feature, it only plays the first disc and says "Insert Disc 2 for the second half of the film". I searched around the site to see if maybe the second discs were listed separately, but there is no way to watch them.

@Josh - to see the second half of "Evening with Kevin Smith" you just have to press the "Next" button that's below the "Full Screen" button. This also works for discs that have multiple TV episodes. (But maybe you knew that and they fixed it after you watched it.)
BTW, the "Evening with Kevin Smith"'s pretty good for anyone who's interested in any Kevin Smith movies.

There is no bad cut of blade runner,....and there was no DVD before last DEC that had the original.....so this is odd.

I think it's great they have the narrated version -- I last think it was available on VHS tape. Despite having the 5-disc set that was released in December, I hope Netflix keeps this up. Don't take anything down that isn't on DVD!

@ kh - wow, thanks. I didn't see that!

Many people I've heard from who are Blade Runner fans prefer the theatrical version. I know the theatrical version on VHS and I believe Laser Disc (I think there was a limited run) were greatly sought after prior to the 4-disc and 5-disc versions of the Final Cut.

I just watched the 47 hour long "Making of Blade Runner," ok, perhaps 3 hours long and began to wonder where the madness ends? You have theatrical releases, director's cuts, special editions: how about actor's cut - only features one actor; investor's cut - nothing on the DVD, at twice the price; special effects cut - no movie, just CGI shots; rental cut - three minutes before the climax, the DVD locks and finally; sponsor's cut - three hours of commercials and 3 minutes of movie (oh wait, that's at theaters now).

Seth, please don't speak for all Blade Runner fans. I personally don't care for any version of the film other than the original with the narration.
