I'm thinking that the day will come when every content owner has their own streaming/download service and they will cut the middlemen (Blockbuster, Netflix, Amazon) out of the BIZ model equation.

I doubt it Ed; I think there will always be an aggregator. Imagine if you had to transact with each company to buy individual grocery items, bypassing the grocery store.
There probably will be a lot of individual services provided online, but not to the exclusion of some form of distribution/aggregation services to provide one-stop consumption.
Back to the original post: I love Criterion, and can't wait to try this out.
