I was surprised to see a new Memorex Blu-ray player for $139 today at Woot.com. It doesn't have Profile 2.0 support, but if you want to get a cheap Blu-ray player before black Friday this is your chance.

I'm surprised, almost 11pm EST, and still not sold out. I thought these would have sold out quicker. Maybe woot just got a lot of these in (like they do with Roombas!).
Either way, great price. $30 less than target.com (much less after tax & shipping, tho.).

It looks like they only sold a total of 4700. I think maybe a Blu-ray player is still a high-end item, where a lot of the people in the market for one would rather pay more for a better one (or get a PS3) than go cheap. I'm usually kind of a gadget person and I was tempted by the Woot price, but decided that since I don't have a 1080 TV and I don't buy movies, it would only be for watching Netflix rentals, so I just really don't need one right now.

I don't have this unit, I have the LG BD300, but isn't the point of Netflix there so you don't have to buy movies? I rent all my blu-rays from Netflix now and I have no reason to buy a dvd or blu-ray. If I want to watch it again, I can just re-rent.

@Scott - I'm with you regarding renting vs. buying, but I think there are some people who rent and then buy the ones they like. But in any case, there's nothing wrong with having a Blu-ray player "only" for watching Netflix rentals, it was just poor wording on my part. But most of what I get from Netflix is not available in Blu-ray, so if I bought a player it would be only for those few titles that are available, and even then I wouldn't want to wait extra time for Blu-ray.

@kh - You do make a good point.

@kh - Or spend the extra buck per month for Blu-ray and still have to wait extra time.
