Mbird reports that Netflix is now processing and shipping movies on Saturdays in Portland, Maine, and Nat reports that it's happening in the Boston area. There is one "gotcha" with Saturday shipping, as Nat reports:
In the past I'd taken advantage of the fact that when I put a movie in the mail on Friday or Saturday I could be pretty confident that a new movie to be released on the following Tuesday would be shipped on Monday for Tuesday delivery. (Sigh, I'm not getting "Caprica" on Tuesday now.) I guess if I still want to get that feature, I'll need to hold off putting things in the mail until Saturday.
If your shipping center is working on Saturday, please add a comment with your location.

I just found out that there is shipping on Saturday here in Phoenix, AZ when I sent back two movies on Friday, and they shipped two back to me Saturday and I received both yesterday. I really appreciate that there is Saturday shipping, before if I had movies to return on a Friday I would just wait and return them on Monday because it seemed like a waste of time to ship them back on a Friday if they weren't going to make a difference if I received any new DVDs. Thanks Netflix!

My shipping center is in Portland, ME, but I don't think I'm getting Saturday service. If I send movies out on a Friday, I don't get my received notifications and new send outs until Monday. Typical weekly turnaround time is one business day. Maybe this is just a recent update, and I haven't noticed it yet.

Closest shipping center to me is Worcester MA. Items mailed on Friday were not checked in as received until Monday.

Ed, the only Boston area shipping center is actually in Northboro, with mailing addresses in Worcester and Brockton. So apparently that center now works Saturdays even though your return didn't get processed. Maybe they don't work a full day Saturday or they sometimes delay receipts for the most frequent renters. Or maybe the fact that yesterday was a MA state holiday might have skewed things this week. Have to wait and see.

Not as of last week in SE Pa,mailed a DVD on Friday and one on Saturday and they both were not processed until Monday.Got The Wrestler but not Caprica.

Portland, Maine is my center. I haven't noticed any Saturday processing/shipping yet. I have noticed a slow down from an excellent one business day turn around to an unacceptable two or three days. I don't know if this is USPS's fault or Netflix.

I had it happen ONE TIME from the San Jose center a few months ago. I was happy that my center did Saturday shipping, but then all the following weeks nothing checked in until Monday, which I don't mind when there's a new release I want to get.
However, it seems like this was probably a test and it'll be awhile till there are more Saturday shipments from San Jose since it's their main hub.

Portland Maine confirmed! I had a disc arrive yesterday (Friday) and they received it today and have a disc marked as shipping today (Saturday) :)

I live in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The mailing address I send to is in Worcester, MA, so by various other posts I guess Nortboro, MA happens to be the actual shipping center. Yesterday, (Friday) I mailed back eight movies, and none have been received by my center.

I'm in the Orlando area and was pleased to discover this morning (Saturday) that the movie I returned yesterday was logged in, a new movie was generated, and it will get to me Monday.
