A source at Roku has confirmed that Leo Laporte's TWIT will be available on the Roku Player soon. Roku has promised a number of new channels by the end of the year, so it'll be interesting to see what they add in addition to Netflix, Major League Baseball, Amazon VOD, and Mediafly (announced, but not available yet).
What would you like to see on the Roku Player?
Thanks to Bill for sending this in.
Hulu, or something similar so we can all watch content from the major networks without having to connect our laptops to the big screen.

Blip.tv is also coming to the Roku soon.

What a huge, ginormous don't-care. What is Roku thinking, spending integration resources and mucking up their interface for something called "Twit"? Or even blip.tv for that matter? What I'd like to see: Hulu (but I don't think it's going to happen), Youtube, major carriers, Disney, major studios, major news channels (CNN, ESPN, etc..).

I'm a Leo Laporte fan from Techtv. Nice bonus!

Maybe someone can clear this up for me. MediaFly is a podcast aggregator, and browsing through the MediaFly offerings, I see a lot of content from TWIT. Should we anticipate a separate, dedicated TWIT channel? If so, what's the point?

It was reported about a week ago or so on cnn.com that Roku is working on a "channel store." and Roku engineers confirmed this in the Roku forums. It's possible that TWiT.tv could create their own channel (in addition to Mediafly) that just contains all their (leo's) specific shows.
It seems that the studios are still weary about offering free content to people's tvs(outside of broadcast tv). I think it's very unlikely that we'll see Hulu, CBS, or any other channel like that on the Roku by the end of the year.
What would I like to see: TED, YouTube, FunnyorDie, Homestar Runner, Academic Earth all sound good to me. Mediafly is going to be a nice addition.

I want to see ANYTHING on the Roku player that I don't have to shell out more cash for. Hulu, YouTube, etc.

I actually bought the Panny BD-60 in part because it had YouTube. I had thought how cool it would be to see the YouTube videos on my big projection screen and hear the audio over my 5.1 sound system.
It hasn't worked out that way. The low resolution Flash videos dodn't look any better for being much larger and the sound is still low bit rate mono. YouTube on the Panasonic Vierra service is also much harder to navigate than on a PC.
The bottleneck is unit content - good new movies and good new TV shows. No matter how many "channels" you have there are only about twenty new good movies released each year. Tastes vary of course you may like a different type of movie but even so there will only be about twenty movies each year of the kind that you like.

That seals it for me. Was deciding to get this or a Blu Ray player, and the extra content, especially Leo, is what I want. I barely watch regular DVD's now. Roku, here I come.

Hulu will never happen. There's no way the TV networks would allow it.
