2nd Update: The API problem has been fixed and the 6 Degrees of Netflix application is back in the App store, and you can download it through this link.
Update: The developer has had to remove the application from the App Store because he's maxed out the number of API calls. I'll post an update when the 6 Degrees application is available again.
6 Degrees of Netflix is a unique Netflix API-based iPhone game and queue management program. The game is simple: you are given a starting actor and and ending actor, and you have to select movies to find the shortest way to connect the two actors. The 6 Degrees application is a great way to discover new movies to watch, as you can add titles to your queue during the game. You can also manage your DVD queue and Instant Watching queue by clicking on the +Queue button.
The 6 Degrees of Netflix application usually costs $1.99, but is free until Sunday night. You can download 6 Degrees of Netflix from the Apple iTunes store.
I wonder how many people are going to use Kevin Bacon for their first search.

what are api calls?
Posted by: banter | December 07, 2009 at 12:13 PM
@banter: API stands for "Application Programming Interface" and Netflix makes an "API" available to 3rd party developers so that they can create apps like this one.
But they limit the number of times you can reference their system (or "API calls") so that a programmer can't abuse it.
