LikeMinds is a site with the ambitious goal of enabling people to archive & transfer ratings, find people with similar interests, and share movies, books, and music.
If you've ever wanted to export your Netflix ratings, you can use LikeMinds.com (formerly SaveMyRatings) to backup your Netflix ratings to a CSV (Excel) file, or even import them into another site such as Blockbuster.Once I signed up for LikeMinds, I was able to import my Netflix ratings into LikeMinds. After selecting Export I was able to save the ratings in an Excel-compatible file. While I wish Netflix, Blockbuster, Apple and other companies supported a standard ratings and review format and enabled the easy transfer of our ratings data, sites like LikeMinds are very useful.

That site is amazing. It's the only reason I use Netflix ratings at all. I already have 900 ratings at MovieLens.org and if I can't export export/import them into other systems I don't even bother. It's just not worth the time to try redo everything.

Also, on that note... I REALLY wish Flixter and IMDB would allow ratings to be imported...

I certainly second that request. I wish it was easier to share and export my ratings to other services and friends.

I was interested in this but I will pass. They want my Netflix username and password. They say it won't be stored, yada yada, but why aren't they using OAuth so it's not an issue at all?

I strongly agree with eriko. They're asking your your username and password, with nothing more than a 'trust us.' No way. And they're not even using https.
Doing this with Netflix is bad enough, but they also take your Amazon.com login and password the same way. Unbelievable.

Hi Dan & Eriko,
Thanks for expressing your concerns. I apologize for not clearly highlighting the alternatives to the user/password option for copying your ratings.
If you don’t feel comfortable using your user/password, you can use our WebApp/Bookmarklet
1. It does not require any account information (username or password).
2. Is open source, so you can inspect the code to see what information it is accessing.
3. It works on many more sites then the user/password option including Movielens, RottenTomates, Yahoo and IMDB.
4. It supports copying your ratings into other service (e.g. Amazon)
The WebApp was originally going to be the only option we supported but I reluctantly added the user/name password option after enough people asked for it because they thought it would be easier and they weren’t very concerned about the risk of someone ordering them bad movies on Netfilx.
Feel free to follow-up on
Dan’s suggestion here
or email me (first name @likeminds.com ) if you have other suggestions.

P.S. We’re planning on adding SSL, just haven’t gotten to it yet. Please use the WebApp in the meantime.

After registering and importing 1000+ Netflix ratings, LikeMinds does NOT allow me to export my Netflix ratings. LikeMinds says that I only have 25 LikeMinds points and need 40 LikeMinds points to export. Nowhere does the site explain how many points one obtains for which activities. Rating additional movies appears to result in a recalculation of this score, but after rating a bunch of movies, I see that the LikeMinds claims that I have rated enough movies to recalculate the score, but the score still does not increase after rating like 20 additional movies. I simply do not have the time to rate another 200+ movies on this site to enable the export option. This is stupid retarded that export functionality is advertised but not available. BIG Waste of my time!

I am using the LikeMinds website with limited success:
1) It took quite a while to import my 7800 Netflix ratings (of which, maybe 2400 are Not Interesteds). Conversely, my Amazon.com 400 or so ratings imported without difficulty.
2) Importing my iTunes XML file did not work. I'll try again. (I have about 8,000 songs, and 95% of those are rated)
3) I'm not sure what to do with the info now that it's in there. The recommendations LikeMinds gave me right off the bat were for TV show DVDs. While I'm sure I'll like them, I'm more interested in movies, and am looking to find a way to filter the TV shows out.
What I really AM looking forward to is exporting my Netflix ratings to have, if nothing else, as a backup. Those many days lately when my Netflix reviews or notes don't show up really scare me.

I had rating saved on this site and I'm trying to get them onto Netflix (about 500 ratings) using the webapp, but so far it doesn't seem to be working. The meter runs to 100% and then it just seems to hang. :(

Charlie,
Your issue was a caching bug where it wasn't updating points correctly until cache had expired after 5 minutes. The export functionality will work if you'd tried it after 5 minutes; With respect to how the points are calculated, the build profile tab directs you too the explanation. If you have more trouble feel free to email me, but please hold the "stupid retarded" language.
Walt,
We could add the option to filter out TV series, just haven't had alot of requests for that. Feel free to put it up on the feature suggestion board and tell people to vote on it.
David,
I believe we emailed and resolved your issue back in Feb; which was a Netflix page format change. If anyone else has that issue email me.
And to follow-up from my earlier post, we've added support for SSL(https://) and also add the ability to copy Friends and Faves from Netflix.
Thanks.

I just created an account and imported my netflix ratings. I've rated 1273 movies and it says "imported 245 ratings". What went wrong?
Posted by: David | December 12, 2010 at 08:07 PM
Build profile; where would that be?
The only thing I want to do is export my ratings into Excel. That's the feature that drew me to import my 6K+ ratings, and I don't see it. Grr. At the very least, there's a site design problem on this point.

Arg. Muddling through Help. Again, better site design wouldn't have necessitated this. Ok, I'm done griping.

I'm having a problem exporting my ratings from Like Minds to Amazon.com using the WebApp/Bookmarklet. The ratings count for likeminds never loads, it just says Loading... and stays that way for hours. I do have over 2,000 ratings I imported from Netflix, is that to many and crashing the program?

Could not get any version of this thing to work. Can't create an account (only FB connect works) and it failed to login to Netflix (authentication error). Web app did not work either. Seems like this is pre-alpha. Would be interested if it ever starts working...
