The first Warner titles delayed 28 days so that Netflix would be able to get more titles to handle demand are now available, and The Invention of Lying and Whiteout are "long" and "short" wait.

I have Short Wait on both of them but they are not high demand movies. Let’s see what happens when a title like Ninja Assassin is out.

OMG WTF.

The most telling situation will be what the status is in about 3 weeks time. FYI, I had "Lying" ship out today.

The Invention of Lying is on Short Wait for my queue. Don't have the other one.
Posted by: ack154 | February 16, 2010 at 02:28 PM
the invention of lying is "short wait" in my queue.
Posted by: Dorrell | February 16, 2010 at 02:33 PM
Invention of Lying is short wait for me. Luckily I won't actually let it come to the top of my queue because it looks really really dumb. Just have it in the queue to keep an eye on it during this window. Will remove it a week or two after it is just listed as Now.

Invention of Lying is actually a very cute but strange movie. It's filled with a lot of thoughtful ideas about genetics and honesty that might be too much for people to sort out or care about (and the movie has the same problem).
It might have been better as a novel.

AWESOME, no VERY LONG WAITS

I received "Whiteout" today. Something NEW was added to this DVD (at least new to me in the NF realm):
a big "RENTAL" notation imprinted on the disc at the bottom of the DVD, offset in a white elliptical semi-circle.

curious - how many copies of these movies do you think Netflix has out there right now?
Posted by: Larry | February 16, 2010 at 04:35 PM
Yes but is "Brian" a heavy hitter? For all we know he could be one of the unfortunates who get their wait times inflated due to their use of the service.
Both are short wait in my queue, which lately doesn't mean anything, because I have been getting movies listed as short wait on "next delivery".
Besides... Netflix will need a couple months of delayed new releases to build up enough extra cash to purchase many new titles and to see how the metrics are affected.

I received a copy of "Lying" in the mail today...with the "RENTAL" imprint.

I COULD CARE LESS!!!!
What's 28 more days?!
I will not BUY a dvd for a 28 day wait!!!!!!!!
Big deal. I won't buy a DVD to WATCH when I don't know if I even like the movie!!!!!
Stupid. I'll just wait and then rent it. If they push too much, I'll go back to the old days and wait until the movie comes out on a premium channel or, "gasp", network TV!!!!!!!!

Crazy people with stupid comments.... let me give my two cents. Very Long Wait and Long Wait = When it come , it come.... I have 500 DVD on my list every week. I do not put new release on the top unless if it a must watch. What 28 more days... for me I can careless. Except for the fact that blu-ray is good but not for renting.

Screw the consumer! This kind of crap drives me to pirate...

I recently watched All About Steve (which by the way was not all that good) and it also had the RENTAL EXCLUSIVE mark on the right side of the disc and that's a 20th Century Fox title. It seems that the studios are going to be marking rental copies to ensure they are destroyed following their rental period.

I am Brian who submitted this, and FYI I have been a Netflix member since 1997, I was grandfathered in under the original 4 DVDs / $14.99/ month program that they are still honoring...and today it is a short wait in my quest (which as 4 total DVDs by the way).

Brian has been a member since 1997, yet he does not know that it is called a "Queue."

I have had "The Invention of Lying" in my queue, at the top, for probably about two months, maybe more. I like Gervais and so really was anxious to get this one ASAP. I am probably a candidate for throttling as I have seen it described on this site and others, based on my usage. But I don't think that I have been throttled. I am curious if Netflix takes into account how long a title has been in your queue and how long it has been at the top. The movie was released yesterday and they are shipping it to me today. Before shipping it was listed in my queue as having a wait time, although I can't remember if it was long or short. Point is, I didn't wait at all. They shipped as soon as they got Gran Torino back.

I received "Invention of Lying on Tuesday the 16th. No problems so far,, How come "The collector" is available thru Blockbuster ,but no NETFLIX??? was that a Warner Bros title???
Posted by: jeffery McDowell | February 17, 2010 at 01:57 PM
Even amazon.com doesn't have "the collector" available until april 6. It must have been an exclusive deal with blockbuster.
Posted by: j | February 17, 2010 at 02:32 PM
lol @ Brian. He must be getting his quest and his service from a different company because Netflix launched in 1999
Posted by: mumbles | February 17, 2010 at 03:16 PM
Yesterday (02/16), both titles were showing "short wait".
Today (02/17), both titles are showing "NOW" :-)

Invention of Lying was listed as a long wait yesterday, but is shipping today after they received my latest disc.
