Oh netflix, all I want from you is to be able to read reviews and be able to read reviews of people I trust.

Miss Q

They haven't worked for me for about a week now. It's really inconvenient.

You must realize by now that eventually they're going to say: "in keeping with our tradition of taking away features until our site has nothing but a big *Play* button, we've removed user reviews. We decided for you that you don't need them. Hope you like what we did without asking our customers first! Ltrz!"

Don't get too attached to reading the always insightful reviews of, "WHEN IS THIS MOVIE COMINGS OUT ON DVD?!?!?!?" or "I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS, BUT I HEARED IT WAS RILLY INTERESTING AND WELL, I'VE GOT 30 MORE CHARACTERS SO, OER)EORPIAOREE!"

I sort of thought this was not so old news. Serious maintenance was needed on the reviews. From petition campaigning to helpful/not helpful voting abusers I think it was inevitable to go offline. I just hope part of the maintenance includes fixes for the two problems. More so for the non reviews (including petition campaigning) because having to weed through them for useful reviews is annoying. Not to mention any terms violations.

I really believe Netflix is testing the waters. Taking away the reviews, and reporting it as a site maintenance issue. THEN, when they take them away entirely, they can say, "Well, when they were not available, we didn't have too many people complain, SO that means people weren't using them, weren't reading them. Therefore, we are discontinuing them."

I've been using Netflix for over ten years now. I don't do streaming (maybe four movies EVER). I love getting my Blu-rays in the mail. I don't mind waiting the 28 day waiting period when a title comes out (though if I do, Blockbuster is just around the corner).
What I do mind is Netflix taking away features that I use. The Friends feature was a big part of the Netflix experience. Gone. Now Member Reviews. While still there, in part, I don't know who wrote the review, so I have to take it with a grain of salt. Previously, I could see a person's review, and read their other reviews, to get a feel for their likes and dislikes.

All my favorite Netflix features are being taken away. Thank goodness they haven't taken away the Blu-rays.

I only like reading reviews after seeing a movie, to see how a lot of people blatantly misunderstand them. Really though, I just want to get selections in the mail and available for streaming. I really do not care about what other people watch and think of what they watched. I'm actually glad Netflix took the profiles away from the reviews. It eliminates some of the ego factor some people obviously had when posting their pompous or mindless opinions. Netflix just needs to screen out the spam and jibberish.
