« Netflix Still Providing Extra Rentals for Delayed Delivery of DVDs | Main | Playstation Network Scheduled Maintenance - Netflix Streaming Working? »

The mail I received to my netflix only email address did in fact come from a netflix server. I don't think receiving this mail means that Walmart has your contact information. Go back to the original mail and view the raw source / long headers / original mail etc. You will see something like the the following in the Received headers:

Received: from mx-ecom.netflix.com (mx-ecom.netflix.com [])
by ***.***.*** (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id XXXXXXX
for ; Tue, 15 Nov 2011 22:46:48 -0500
Received: from empapp115.dc1.prod.netflix.com ([])
by mx-ecom.netflix.com (StrongMail Enterprise 5.1.0(5.1.0-56557)); Tue, 15 Nov 2011 19:46:42 -0800

Netflix was the source of this mail.

this is fantastic as i recieved the email just a bit ago, and i JUST read the bottom of the onlinedvdclass.com and it states:

Please do not contact either the Defendants or the Court about this Settlement. Any and all callers will be directed to this website. If you have questions, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions and the other information posted here.

This site is not operated by the Plaintiffs or the Defendants. This class action lawsuit is supervised by the Court and is administered by a claims administration firm that handles all aspects of claims processing.

this is a link too cnn.com i guess this is not a hoax!

Colin (who is a lawyer in Indiana)do you need to have a lawyer in order to still file a clain but object to the class action?

It may be tempting to treat all those returns as “self-prepared” returns even if your representative actually prepared them. Don’t even think about it. First, as the ERO filing the return, you need to keep a copy of the return the taxpayer brings in to file. Not a printed copy from your software but an exact copy of what they brought in and you e-filed.

such a nice starting blog.. i like your blog..

Does anyone know the addresses you send the objection to? I think the lawyers are asking for too large a chunk. Then again I think the entire lawsuit is frivolous but if they insist on settling the money should at least go to the plaintiffs themselves.

The news said everyone was going to get 62 cents. The majority of the money is going to a coupe dozen lawyers.

hello. There‘s always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.
Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

I work at WalMart, they screw me everyday

Do you all seriously believe that in some form or another that Wal-mart doesn't already have the majority of Americans information? Seriously, in this day and age the majority of us use credit, which means they will sell your information for MORE money. Neither Wal-Mart nor Netflix, nor any other major company run by shareholders give 2 sh$ts about you.

"It's a settlement, not a penalty."

I understand that, Keith, but you entirely missed the point. WalMart was sued for anti-consumer behavior, and as a result receives a net betterment of $27-$80 million under the current deal... AND 24 million NetFlix consumers (many like me with no current WalMart relationship) are opened to WalMart e-marketing without permission*.

That makes zero sense. I will be objecting to the settlement and encourage everyone here to do the same.

*this could be remedied by keeping the names/emails in escrow, and permitting Wal-Mart to capture and utilize customer info only if/when the gift cards are actually used.

Sued for "Anti-Consumer Behavior."

Anytime a company's services increase in price this could be construed as anti-consumer. But hey, we're still all paying 25c a gallon for oil right? It's still 1925 right?

If you want everything for nothing go stand by a freeway entrance with your sign and hold out your hand.

I'm embarrassed to say I'm part of the same country as you people. I'm disgusted.

@Foggy Netflix did indeed send out these emails themselves rather than give up the email list to some 3rd party. As with real mail, you can put anything you want in the return address.

If you look at the full headers of the email, you will see that it originated from Netflix.
