Netflix's Erik Barmack, director of content for Netflix, just announced that the launch of Netflix streaming in Sweden (as announced in August).
Starting today, people throughout Sweden who love watching movies and TV shows can join almost 30 million of our members from over fifty countries around the world, who enjoy our service over the Internet streaming to Smart TVs, game consoles, computers, tablets, mobile devices and more.
There's a free trial for a month, after that Netflix only costs 79kr per month. From day one, you’ll able to get instant access to full seasons of TV shows such as The Walking Dead, 24, and Sherlock, and great films such as The Expendables, The Matrix, and Happy Feet Two, as well as tons of great Swedish shows and movies. We’ll be adding new content continuously.
Interesting tidbits from the announcement include the hint that Netflix is approaching 30 million members, and the total streaming device count is now past 1,000.
Thanks to Matt for sending this in.

Just Checked it out. not much in the way of 'New' films, but was not really expecting anything.
They have several collections like, Lethal Weapon, Godfather, Saw, Matrix, and a ton of old Clint Eastwood movies, good for Themed Marathons.
Looks like they might have a contract with WB for TV Shows, Fringe caught my eye.
If you have a good VPN already, it is worth checking out.

For those that VPN, how do you do that in the U.S.? I tried with one of the websites but Netflix told me that my account was valid in the U.S. only. Is there a way around that, or is VPN only for those outside of the states?
Thanks!

Hmm that's weird what vpn company are you using. Also my suggestion is to go try UnoDns http://www.unotelly.com. It works better than any VPN, you get your full internet speed with whatever country your using instead of major slowdown with many of the vpn's I've tried. They have a free one week trial so you can play around and see if you can get your account working.

Hi Mitch,
I have both dvds and streaming and since I have dvds vpns won't work on the computer, but I got it to work on my iphone. Hope this helps, maybe you're in the same boat. Did not try it on the xbox or anything else.

@ Mitch
What VPN are you using? If you are using US VPN I think that you can access only US websites. BTW why don't you try a DNS service? They are cheaper and faster.

Thanks for the help! @George, I'm pretty new to all this so I didn't realize there would be a difference. I'll have to check it out. I do have a DVD plan as well, so would that make checking out other countries' streaming options impossible then?
Posted by: Mitch | October 16, 2012 at 09:35 AM
@Mitch As Amanda stated she's had no problems on her iphone so my suggestion would be try UnoDNS like I said before you get a free trial, no credit card or other payment option needed, and they give step by step directions for your device and even your router if you wish to set it up that way. I would presume if viewing other countries works on the iphone then it would work on (almost)any device other than the computer.

Sounds good. I saw that above but still had the question. I'll mess around with it this weekend and see what I can figure out. Thanks for the advice!
