Here's the full list of new Netflix DVD releases this week (detailed list): Seven Psychopaths, The Cold Light of Day, Hotel Transylvania, All Superheroes Must Die, Parked, Citadel, Paranormal Activity 4, and Femme Fatales.
Interesting streaming releases in the past week include Chariot of the Gods, Graham Chapman: Anatomy of a Liar, Jim Jefferies: Fully Functional, Death of a Superhero, The Giant Mechanical Man, Hansel and Gretel: Warriors of Witchcraft, and Time Traveler.
Hansel and Gretel Warriors of Witchcraft...hahaha!

...not to be confused with Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Hawkeye.

Hey now.... Warriors of Witchcraft stars "Booboo Stewart"... Give it a chance

Ummm half of these movies have been on there for like 2 weeks already for me....I noticed Dr.Dolittle and Daddy Daycare in place of Time Traveler and Hansel and Gretel,Death of a Superhero and The Giant Mechanical Man.
Does Netflix have like different content on different servers or something or is this more of a list of what is noticed by the site owner?

Just be patient people, in a few days we will get a bunch of great content:

Downton Abbey season 3 should be listed in the DVD releases. Street date is tomorrow (January 29) and the email I got this morning from Netflix says they've shipped me disc 2 (I intentionally skipped disc 1 since I saw those episodes on PBS).

I am waiting to watch "The cold light of the day".

Netflix is dropping 400 items from their streaming this week and replacing it with about 280 items. Looks like bigger named films are leaving and maybe a few good ones are on the replacement list.
I went to my Amazon Prime search and just about all the 39 films that were being taken down this week in my queue were there so I just deleted the exiting titles from NF and added them to my 'watchlist' on Amazon.
This doesn't mean I'm dropping Netflix at all but this was a huge week for removal of titles.
And when will these political exploitation TV series/Movies/Schlockumentaries of the American people stop? Now NF starts a series surrounded by the dreaded virus. I joined in 2000 to escape this idiotic world and it's come to this. A stinking huge banner that smacks me in the face. Thank God for Roku and other streaming devices.

No,no,no enough is enough. Comeon Netflix this is too much, the streaming releases are getting worse. The releases for the past 3 months have just been plain ridiculous. I'll have to think about options though no cable provider will ever get a dime from me again, but there are options. Netflix pick it up please.

@Peter,
Checking the expiring titles section at instantwatcher.com, of the 430 titles that are set to expire by Feb 1 (590 total listed due to exit over the next 4 weeks), the vast majority are not what many would call ''big name' films. And the list of upcoming titles never reflects the actual number that's added each month, as Netflix doesn't release information of everything they add-witness Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol which failed to make the upcoming list for January during the last 2 weeks of December.
I wish Amazon would permit month to month subscriptions for Prime. It would be nice to sign up for only a few months, in order to take advantage of content that can't be found elsewhere.

You have been able to for the past few months.

@moviegeek,
They did, but removed the monthly option after less than a month.

I have both. What's real cute is NF will have movies that drop off and they are added to Prime just a week or two later... and vice versa, Prime will drop titles and NF will have them just a week or two later. Have and use both for a prolonged period of time and you will understand why Reed is all about exclusivity now. We should be getting a bunch of decent titles in the next 3 months... Hunger Games, What to expect when you're expecting, Safety not Guaranteed, The Raven. End of Watch will be another title coming soon but I don't know about next 3 months.

That should read great "re-released content." Growing tired of titles being pulled from streaming then re-introduced as if they're new exciting additions to the streaming cataloge. The greater bulk of all titles in "coming soon" have been on Netflix streaming once before... some more than once.
Nothing more disheartening than adding a "new" release you forgot you already watched a year ago and to see it in your queue tagged with a "resume" notation!

I said 'bigger named titles'. The titles coming in are lower compared to the ones leaving. That's not to say they won't add great stuff in 2 months.
I would never cancel NF and will always keep Amazon as well. Sad to see them drop the monthly plan for those who wanted it. They may be playing the waiting game to see if NF raises their price to stream. BTW they BOTH have the films I deleted from my queue as of right now.
Paying by the year knocks a dollar off the month but I realize people have to budget. When compared to going out to the theatre, by the time you use gas, buy tickets and concessions, you burn up nearly the amount for Amazon right there. I wonder what would happen if NF decided to go yearly as well?

Just a quick question if anyone would be so kind as to answer...
I've suspended my DVD delivery for a month or two (just too busy to use it).
Does Netflix carry the series "Pingu" on DVD?
Much obliged, I promise to pay if forward when I get my account back :)
Posted by: Jay | January 29, 2013 at 09:12 PM
Jay...
if you are referring to the Penguin "Pingu" yes, Netflix does offer 2 discs of Pingu which has multiplr episodes, but also has 2 more that would have to be added to the saved section.

Just out of curiousity, who's advertising these titles as "exciting additions?" I've never seen this anywhere, certainly not from netflix themselves, but I could be wrong. I know a lot of BBC stuff gets taken off and put back on every other month.

Apparently House of Cards is out there now. Couple of pretty big ads on Deadline.com touting it.
Posted by: CordCutter | February 01, 2013 at 05:38 AM
@williamd
Season 5 of Breaking Bad still has 8 episodes that haven't even aired yet. I don't think Netflix has ever released partial seasons of shows.

Just noticed that my streaming history has all but disappeared. It lists titles for the past six weeks, and nothing older - used to display everything I've viewed since joining (DVD history is still complete). Bummer.
Anyone else notice this?
Posted by: GeeEmm | February 03, 2013 at 10:49 PM
Yeah, mine only goes back 30 days now. I just made a copy of my shipping history in case that's next. Thanks for the tip. Major bummer!
Posted by: Mike | February 04, 2013 at 11:46 AM
Yep, mine is also 30 day.
