Listed below are links to weblogs that reference New Releases for January 11, 2005:

How about using the same format as you have this week, and adding an "(Add to queue)" link to the end. That way we'll still be able to click the title to see the Netflix page for the movie, or add it straight to our queues with a single click.

Some of us can't add anything to our queue currently because of Netflix's annoying 500-title limit in your queue.

Hate the new format. It takes at least twice as long to page through. If I want a description I want to click to get it.

Thanks for bringing back the service though...

I love the new format! And I'm happy with a link to the movie instead of the add to queue. But I'm not hardover on this last part. Thanks for folding under pressure :)

I'm not so sure if I like having the descriptions or not. I'd say if it is a lot of work, then no worries--the list is fine.

I don't like clicking to add to queue. I'd prefer to just see the DVD page. Then I can see some reviews and look at ratings.

Man, there's lots of bizarre movies being released. There wasn't anything on that list today that looked interesting to me!

I could take or leave the descriptions. It's useful info, but it really lengthens the size of the list. I prefer to go to the movie page before I decide whether I want to add it to my queue, but having both link options available (as suggested above) would be very helpful too.

I don't think I would ever add anything to my queue without first checking out the reviews on the main movie page, so if the only link associated with the movie added it to my queue, I would not find it useful.

Could you shorten the descriptions to snippets like Google does with web searches? If it's too much work then you don't need to.

I've already noticed two movies that I probably would have skipped over.

I agree with the above post. Like

Movie Title
Short discription of movie, The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. -- Details Link -- Add to Queue

It might be time to consider adding another blogger to Hackingnetflix

I'll throw my weight behind those that vote for the Olde Tyme version. The new style, while blazingly informative, is just too damn long.

I like the new version and would at least like the opportunity to have an "Add To Queue" link.

Too long. Good if I want it, but REALLY clutters up the RSS. How about a separate feed for that?

Oh wait, I get that already from Netflix. So if no add-to-queue, not worth your time. As an interaction designer, I say give us BOTH links. The title should go to details, and add a link at the end of each one "add to queue now." About 90% of the movies I add from new releases I am just reminded of, and immediately add.

The other 10% I am not sure of. When they are new releases, netflix has few or no reviews, so I have to use the IMDb hacklet to get over there. So, as concise as it is, an IMDb rating (what available) as a simple numeric in the feed would also be good.

SO:
*The Village* M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs) assembles an all-star cast -- including Bryce ... what happens next may change the villagers' lives forever. (6.5/10 - 17,306) *Add directly to queue*.

And a bigger type size. It dropped into that never-never land size where I can't read it at all. Nothing below 9px /ever/ should be used to assure cross-platform readability.

(Why do I care if its hard to do? I am just a UI designer. Now, go develop!) :)

Science of the sexes is pretty good...remember when discovery channel was more than Monster garage and remodeling houses reality shows?

...And if you like good comedy check out Eddie Izzard(he and tom leykis are the closest things we have to bill hicks today)

I vote for the shorter listing with a link to the description page. And a larger font. Thanks for the updates.

Out of curiosity, why do you find the IMDB rating/number of ratings more useful than the Netflix version of the same? The Village has more ratings on IMDB, but not by a lot, but Troy, which is also a new release, has more on Netflix than IMDB (also not by a lot).
