I finally got my copy of OS X Tiger and installed it on my Powerbook last week. I love Dashboard Widgets like Dashflix, but I was suprised to find the Netflix New Releases RSS feed as a built-in option for the OS X screensaver:

This image doesn't do the screensaver justice. The text flies around the screen and is fun to watch.
You can select any RSS feed (I recommend HackingNetflix, of course), but if you select the Netflix New Releases feed it will show you the new movies each week. If you press the number corresponding to the movie, it will bring you to the Netflix page for that movie.

OSX is amazing.

I love the RSS screensaver too, but there's a major limitation -- it only shows the first 10 RSS entries in the feed, after which it starts over again.
I'm guessing this is related to the "press 1 for more info" feature; there are only ten digits. Would've been fine with me if more feeds were displayed, even without the option for "more info"...

Dave--you can edit the screensaver module yourself and change whatever you like about it using the Quartz Composer (part of the Developer's Tools that ship with Tiger). It might be a bit complicated but somebody with a weekend to spare could certainly doctor that up pretty nicely!

Is there anything like this for Windows XP?

XP has dozens of useless programs and screensavers available on the Internet, many of them with poor legibility as well

Brian W -- Sweet! I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the idea. I think I'll poke around with it...

If you're so inclined, you can even add your Netflix RSS feeds and keep track of your queue and shipping notifications.
