According to this press release on the NDS Web site, there will be a demonstration at IBC 2005 in Amsterdam "Featuring the Blockbuster-branded on-demand portal and premium contentintegrated into the operator’s electronic program guide (EPG)."
“Digital distribution of content is a natural progression for our business,” states Steve Middleton, European Director of New Media for Blockbuster Digital Entertainment. “With the evolution of broadband and pay-TV, millions of customers will be able to directly access our services from the comfort of their own home.”
First deployments of this technology are expected in 2006, but no announcement has been made by Blockbuster.
rolling out in certain countries of Europe, where broadband has a higher penetration, make sense in getting a jumpstart.
