Bill

Well, I have Television rated with 1 star, and the first recommendation was Scrubs. Back to the lab again...

LaWilson

I saw this recommendation change a few days ago. Very nice. I think they are trying to edge out Yahoo! Movies in this regard, which is smart.

Aron

Bill, it wouldn't surprise me if the system was delayed in processing inputs. Collaborative filtering can require a lot of data crunching since it uses the ratings of you AND everyone else to give suggestions.

I agree with LAWilson. Yahoo beat them to this particular method. Yahoo is probably Netflix's fiercest competitor in the VOD arena as it materializes.

Aron

Ok, now I actually tried it and they insert a delay for "processing" (which seems somewhat gimmicky) so that should probably sink my explanation for Bill.

Dennis

I like the feature, the ability to rate categories was available about a week ago for me. And kudos for whoever rented The Duel. Great movie.

Bill

I've rated over 3000+ movies in the past 4 years or so. I always give TV shows "Not Interested", but they constantly clutter my recomendations and every other page. There should be an option to not show a specific category. At least its a lot better now that they don't show you each disk from a specific season.

Jay

I'm not fond of TV series DVDs filling my recomendations. I have TV as 1 star but the only thing showing up are different series discs for television shows.

Same here. I rated over 500 but I constantly get TV series recommendations! 7 out of 10 on the 1st page are TV. On the 2nd page 8 out of 10 are tv. I like some tv but that catagory is no higher than the rest! I have Comedy & Action/Adventure rated higher but I keep getting tv ones.

You guys are missing out on some great HBO shows by not chossing anything that is "TV" But is does annoy me that I have season 4 of Sopranos in my Q but they keep recomending season 1 or 5 to me.

pps

Same for me. TV shows cluttering my recommendations.

They're probably pushing TV shows because DVDs for TV shows are cheap (4 DVDs cost about 20 bucks in wholesale). People take a long time to go through the 4 discs and they make profit.

Don't forget, Netflix will often double
the number of disks for TV series.

Six discs for HBO's OZ: The Complete Fourth Season. You can get it in three discs from Amazon or Blockbuster. Thanks Netflix!
