"The Lovefilm comparisons are inevitable - we'd say on the catalogue front, Lovefilm still has things wrapped up"

So what are we talking about... I mean, does lovefilm have 10000 titles while netflix UK has 1000 or what?

The First thing I that jumped out at me when I first hit Netflix's UK landing page was that there were several films that I had always intended on seen, but for some reason never did.
Such as, 3:10 t Yuma, The Station Agent, Cinderella Man and The Girl who Lept though Time. None of which is available in Netflix US

The second thing I noticed was a lack of animated movies, No Disney, Pixar or Ghibli. Hardly any anime.

Also, There is no queue, No developer area (I am guessing no API), No RSS feed so I can be alerted to what is new and almost all features of 'Suggestions' are missing.

While these things are missing from all of Netflix Non-US sites I am a bit surprised that they would go into a market that has a competitor without having all the best features of the US site available.

Sorry for the typos above, I hit Post instead of Preview.

It is early they will add movies just like they have in canada

still quite new, but as said before, why come into a market just to be second best, missing some really big films on the list, bit us blockbusters, search feature isnt brilliant maybe in few months things will improve but for now, not really worth the monthly subscription if your a lovefilm member

I have both... Netflix is BARE BONES right now. It better improve fast, or I will not be renewing after my free trial. I would say that it has about 10% of the full American library so far. Almost every film I search for does not appear. GET THOSE LICENSES ASAP!!!

My question is why doesn't Amazon in turn launch Lovefilm in the States. As an American I would love to see a competitor come in and force Netflix to step its game up. They've been getting away with too many bad decisions. If they don't continue to make improvements it will come back to haunt them when a site like Lovefilm does launch in America and decides to shake things up.

If they did, Amazon would be competing with itself.

seems quite good as a new UK Account holder interface is much better then the lovefilm instant here in the UK, but must admit I did buy a VPN in order to get full USA Version of the site there are however some shows on UK Version that I Like that are not on US Version like Spooks 7 Series of that on UK, shows like 24 have less seasons on uk version 4 seasons us version 8 seasons,

I did the opposite of Dylan. There are some series that the UK version has more episodes of than the US, and some shows that we don't have at all in the US.

The number of available titles is obviously limited compared to the US offering. But in terms of the quality of the streaming, the quality of Netflix is vastly superior to that offered by Lovefilm.

Lovefilm is primarily a physical disc service and the quality of their streaming service is sub-par. On the Loveilm streaming service, the picture is full of pixelated blocks and artifacts. The qaulity of stream on offer from Lovefilm is even worse than a poorly copied VHS video tape - it is certainly not suitable for viewing on a 50 inch screen.

The quality of the Netflix stream is vastly superior, showing in HD with full DD. I hope that the number of titles on offer grows quickly over the coming weeks and months.

I agree with Rehmanmohamed. Netflix simply can't be compared against LoveFilm. Their selection may be bigger (but they've been around longer in the UK) however the actual quality of streaming is so extremely poor.

I think Netflix thus far is fantastic. Yes, I would love to see a queueing or favourites system installed and yes, I anticipate more titles being added.

I reckon that it would be valuable for them to show somewhere a list of titles coming soon to entice the people to continue subscribing after their free trial has expired.

I for one can see the absolute potential of this and will be maintaining a subscription.
